You know how but you are not doing it.
Do this to motivate yourself to take action.
As human beings, there are two things we generally don't appreciate:
How things are.
Change.
This creates a paradox. Our constant dissatisfaction is what drives us toward continuous development, yet at the same time, our resistance to change creates barriers to this development.
Change is inevitable, whether triggered by external events or initiated by ourselves. We often label external changes as crises or, in other cases, as opportunities. However, these changes may not align with our authenticity and the way we wish to live the only life we have.
The alternative is for us to be the constant catalyst for change in a direction that is authentic to us. Hence the importance of associating this change with a strong life fuel, which is our purpose, aligned with the need to change.
This need initially starts with the desire to have a different life perspective, which in turn will transform us, and as we change, we will also adopt different habits.
We can conclude that the person we will become will be different from who we are today. It is up to us to decide if we want this person to be authentic or the result of someone else's influence.
As human beings, it is normal to be inspired by the way of life of people who have been or are influences in our lives. We learn from the lives of others, which is a smart way to maximize our own life.
My invitation is that we do this as inspiration, avoiding comparisons, as no life is the same. There are specific areas where we can draw inspiration. For this exercise, I will focus on how we deliver value to society, which sustains our sustainable life in it.
I invite you to start the exercise by listing the people who have inspired or inspire you in what you do currently. Why do they inspire you? What are the qualities in these people that inspire you?
Now, create a visual map of yourself, with images that represent who you are at work. Who do you wish to be? Who would you never be? What habits would the person you would never be have? What habits does the person you wish to be have? What habits can you adopt today to become that person? What does it mean to you if you do not adopt these habits?
Think in detail about the characteristics and qualities of the person you want to be. Include attributes such as personality traits, values, how they dress, skills, and achievements. The more specific your vision is, the more tangible it will become.
This will be your visual map of the person you will be from today onward, and it will guide the intention with which you will live each day of your life from now on.
Over time, your perspective will change, and just as the person you aspired to be 10 years ago may not completely suit you today, so too the person you are from today may not suit you in the future. Therefore, revisiting at least once a year is advisable. This is a good exercise to do at the turn of a good year, creating the intention of the person you want to become for the coming year.
